Job Description

We are looking for a certified or experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team at El Paso Animal Urgent Care. The ideal candidate should have excellent client communication and telephone skills, basic computer literacy, and be able to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment. You must be customer service-oriented, have a professional appearance, and be able to work all shifts, including nights and weekends. As our Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for administering injections, taking vital signs of animals, properly restraining animals for examination and treatment, dispensing medications and pet foods, updating client/patient files, admitting patients, and assisting veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare records, consent forms, and other required documentation.
  • Admit and greet patients and clients in a friendly manner.
  • Handle telephone calls and maintain health and rabies certificate files.
  • Dispense medications, pet foods, and supplies and update client/patient files.
  • Perform closing procedures and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures using proper restraint and aseptic technique.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses and prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis.
  • Monitor patients under anesthesia, administer treatments and injections, and initiate emergency procedures.
  • Take and develop radiographs, vital signs of animals, perform dental cleanings, and complete various other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Certified or experienced veterinary technician with good client communication and telephone skills.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to handle multiple unrelated tasks simultaneously in a busy environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, work on feet all day, and write legibly.
  • Must be customer service-oriented, friendly, and have a professional appearance.
  • Availability to work all shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Proven ability to administer injections, take vital signs of animals, and properly restrain animals for examination and treatment.
  • Experience in dispensing medications, updating client/patient files, admitting patients, and assisting in medical and surgical procedures under veterinarian supervision.
