Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Aviation Benefits Attorney to join the Air Line Pilots Association at our office in Tysons (McLean), Virginia. As the largest airline pilot union globally, representing over 77,000 pilots at 43 U.S. and Canadian airlines, ALPA is dedicated to providing exceptional legal representation in employee benefits matters. In this role, you will be responsible for offering legal advice on pilot employee benefit plans, including those negotiated by ALPA.

Responsibilities

  • Providing legal advice on a broad range of employee benefits matters
  • Representing ALPA’s interests in employee benefits including qualified defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, and other fringe benefit plans
  • Potential for local, national, and international travel, estimated at 10%-30%

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an approved school of law required
  • Member in good standing of the Bar
  • Five (5) years of related experience, or a Master of Law (LLM) or substantial labor experience, which may be substituted for some years of legal experience
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Experience using online legal research and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Local, national, and international travel, at times on short notice, is required: up to 30%
