Job Description

The Conservation Fund is looking for a motivated Research Technician Intern (Summer Intern) to join our team at the Freshwater Institute in Shepherdstown, WV. This part-time internship will involve assisting with pilot-scale anaerobic digestion experiments from June 1, 2024, through August 15, 2024. The successful candidate will work closely with our Environmental Research Engineer to conduct various tasks related to water quality testing and data collection.

Responsibilities & Scope

  • Load, operate, and collect data from a pilot-scale anaerobic digester.
  • Assist with water quality testing and sludge sample analysis.
  • Record and extract data using Microsoft Excel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Prior laboratory experience.
  • Interest in waste treatment technologies.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 applications.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience

  • Understanding of anaerobic digestion technology.
  • Knowledge of pumps, mixers, and basic plumbing.

Physical Demands

This role involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in wet, hot, or humid conditions.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $17.00 to $20.00 per hour based on experience.
