Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Director, Life Claims and Investigations to join our team at USAA. As the Director, you will lead the Life Company's claims and fraud investigation programs, ensuring seamless claims processing, fraud detection, and member satisfaction. This position requires the management of the Life Special Investigation Unit staff, development of operational priorities, and maintaining crucial industry relationships. The role involves overseeing the claims and benefits process, developing security plans, identifying fraud trends, and collaborating with internal and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to staff in interpreting procedures and guidelines.
- Direct and approve claims within assigned authority limits.
- Oversee the claim investigation team and ensure business performance aligns with objectives.
- Develop and implement Claims Security strategic and operational plans.
- Identify emerging fraud trends and develop fraud investigation programs.
- Foster collaborative relationships with enterprise partners and law enforcement agencies.
- Lead hiring, employee development, coaching, and performance evaluation functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 8 years of relevant business experience, including 3 years in Claims or Insurance Fraud.
- 3 years of direct team lead or management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- US military experience or military spouse/domestic partner.
- 5+ years of Life Insurance and/or annuity claims experience.
- 3+ years of Life Insurance and/or annuity claims management or operational experience.
- Knowledge of various claims processing procedures and impact on operations.
- Past approval authority of $500,000 or more in life and/or annuity claims.
- Proven track record of delivering operational results.
