Job Description
Fibertek, Inc., a renowned developer of laser and electro-optic systems for the aerospace sector, is seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to join our Research and Development Team based in Herndon, VA. As a key member of the R&D division, you will collaborate within small teams to develop, verify, and enhance firmware for Fibertek's cutting-edge electro-optical systems.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development, verification, and enhancement of firmware for electro-optical systems.
- Collaborate closely with hardware designers during the development and testing phases.
- Utilize VHDL and work with Xilinx and Microchip FPGAs and associated development tools.
- Develop and run simulations to validate design compliance with requirements.
- Work on high-speed memory interfaces and various communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, GTX/GTH Transceivers).
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in firmware development.
- Proficiency in VHDL programming.
- Experience with DDR3, interfacing tools, and lab instruments (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.).
Bonus Areas
- Experience in developing Hi-Rel/Space programs.
- Knowledge of signal processing and various communication interfaces.
- Experience in GUI-based test software development.
