Job Description

Marion County is looking for a dedicated Mental Health Skills Trainer - Supported Employment to positively impact the lives of individuals with severe mental illnesses. The Vocational Specialist role involves helping individuals secure and retain positions based on their preferences within the supported employment program. This evidence-based initiative integrates various services to assist individuals in obtaining and sustaining employment, promoting motivation and purpose among participants.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Supported Employment services to individuals enrolled in adult behavioral health services, adhering to Individual Placement and Supports (IPS) standards.
  • Job coaching, guidance, and coordination including job analysis, application assistance, and intervention for employed participants.
  • Conduct employment research, job development, and maintain connections with employers.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of clinical records and maintain communication with the treatment team.

Requirements

  • Three years of relevant work experience in a behavioral health services field or a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field.
  • Possession of a current Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) Qualified Mental Health Associate certification (QMHA).
  • Knowledge of mental health concepts, crisis intervention, community resources, and evidence-based strategies for skills training.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships, demonstrate active listening, and follow professional boundaries.
