Job Description

We are seeking an Engineer II - Sensor Test and Evaluation to join our team at EarthScope Consortium. This position will be based at our EPIC facility in Socorro, New Mexico, where you will manage and implement multiple field projects to provide technical support for geophysical instruments and networks. You will work on logistics and field operations at various sites in the United States and international locations, collaborating with team members and other staff engineers on projects and technologies. As an Engineer II, your responsibilities include ensuring project documentation, adhering to best practices, proposing new technologies, and assisting with training.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage geophysical projects of varying complexity.
  • Identify and solve technical issues related to geophysical sensors and networks.
  • Assist in designing and testing new systems.
  • Evaluate instrument design and data to improve systems.
  • Document activities and metadata using established protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments on projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, geosciences, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks for Bachelor's degree holders.
  • 1 year of field experience with geophysical sensors or networks for Master's degree holders.
  • Proficiency in hand and power tools, team collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and passport for travel.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments and meet physical requirements.
