Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Technologist to join our team at Johnson Regional Medical Center on a full-time basis, working during weekends and evenings. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for processing laboratory specimens, conducting various tests, and ensuring accurate reporting of results across different departments of the clinical laboratory. You will play a key role in maintaining quality control practices, managing inventory, and leading specific areas within the laboratory under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-complexity, moderate complexity, and waived testing across different laboratory areas.
- Order and manage supplies for various testing departments.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating laboratory equipment and conducting instrument checks.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for statistical and billing purposes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and safety.
- Stay updated on new testing methods, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to ethical business practices and organizational policies.
Professional Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology.
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with at least 2 years of clinical laboratory experience.
- Certification is preferred.
- Strong communication skills in English, additional languages are a plus.
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in operating lab equipment.
Physical Demands
This role involves working in a hospital environment with exposure to biological, chemical, and mechanical hazards. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 35 pounds, and operating various lab equipment. The position is safety-sensitive and requires strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
