Senior Insurance Follow Up Specialist

The University of Toledo Physicians is looking to hire a dedicated Senior Insurance Follow Up Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving resolution, promoting peak performance, and ensuring world-class revenue cycle outcomes through efficient communication and strong problem-solving skills. As a subject matter expert, you will collaborate with team members, insurance representatives, and other departments to enhance the patient experience and maintain compliance with integrity.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

• Document all actions and responses in the practice management system for account resolution.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve outstanding account balances.
• Follow workflow processes for claims registration, coding, and payment processing.
• Investigate reasons for unpaid/denied claims and take necessary actions to reach resolutions.
• Manage claims efficiently to meet productivity standards and contribute to team efforts.
• Identify trends in non-payment and implement preventive measures for cash collections.
• Travel to practice locations for on-site support and revenue cycle performance improvement meetings.
• Maintain patient record confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policies.
• Actively participate in staff meetings and process improvement sessions.
• Ensure a clean and organized work area with electronic document storage.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 2+ years in resolving insurance denials and/or revenue cycle.
• Skills: Understanding of insurance requirements, strong communication skills, analytical ability, proficiency in data entry.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Skills: Knowledge of CPT and ICD terminology, familiarity with billing software, and experience with EPIC.
