Job Description
We are looking for a Principal Application Architect (Finacle) to lead our technology strategy and technical capabilities for an application ecosystem at Discover Financial Services. In this role, you will design application architecture that balances business and customer needs with technical non-functional requirements. You will work closely with product owners, lead the design process, coach architects, and ensure the application ecosystem meets evolving business needs.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Owners to align product vision with technology strategy.
- Oversee the design process for applications independently.
- Coach other architects on product quality strategy and solution design patterns.
- Stay engaged in understanding and researching modern technologies and patterns.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in Software Development, Engineering, or related roles.
- Proficiency on the Dreyfus architecture scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Finacle, AWS, Kubernetes, or Openshift.
External applicants will require a technical interview.

Compensation: $148,000.00 to $204,000.00 base pay, plus incentives.
