Application Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an Application Engineer (Full Stack) to join Discover Financial Services, a leading digital banking and payments company. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain full stack solutions that align with business needs. Your responsibilities will include contributing to product team deliverables, diagnosing automation opportunities, and ensuring high-quality deployment to production. We are looking for a proactive problem solver who can lead technology communities and drive key results for assigned products.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to product team deliverables using Java programming technology.
• Diagnose opportunities for automation and efficiency in the end-to-end product delivery cycle.
• Solve complex technical problems and explore innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with business partners to understand and address all requirements.
• Design, program, test, and deploy new user stories and features with high quality and reliability.
• Achieve team commitments and guide the team to achieve key results for assigned products.
• Remediate issues using engineering principles and create proactive design solutions for potential failures.
• Contribute to and lead technology communities at Discover.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related roles.
• Technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale (for internal applicants).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cloud Technology such as AWS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, OpenShift.
• Strong automation mindset related to testing and build/deploy concepts.
• Experience with CI/CD Pipeline using Jenkins, Github Actions, Chef, Ansible, Nexus.
• Technical proficiency in Java, Spring, Kafka, Openshift, and Jenkins.

Compensation

Base pay ranges from $86,500.00 to $146,100.00, with additional incentives based on individual factors.
