Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant for Wound Care at Restore First Health Duluth functions under the direction of the Practice Manager and Nurse Practitioner. This role involves recognizing and addressing patient needs and symptoms in advance, primarily by providing wound care procedures in patients' home residences, skilled nursing facilities, and the clinic. The position entails preparing patients for wound procedures, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care, and recording treatment in the electronic medical record. Additionally, the Medical Assistant will provide patient/family education and ensure competency and skills to serve patients of all ages. The position requires extensive driving, involving the operation of a company vehicle, and may require the handling of up to 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds, as well as prolonged periods of sitting and driving. Other duties as necessary may also be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs and assist with positioning and prep for wound procedures.
  • Assist with dressing changes and wound debridement.
  • Drive and maintain a company vehicle in accordance with traffic laws and company policy.
  • Manage and replenish wound supplies, including documentation and inventory.
  • Coordinate and schedule wound care visits, manage schedules and care coordination, and obtain necessary documentation and records.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, and graduation from a Certified Medical Assistant program.
  • Two years of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting, preferably with wound care.
  • Current BCLS certification and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
  • Proficiency in basic office skills, operation of office equipment, medical terminology, and English language.
