Job Description
We are hiring Diesel or Automotive Mechanics to work at Freeport and Hempstead Schools as part of our team at First Student, the leading school transportation provider in North America. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of school buses, providing maintenance, repairs, and guidance to other technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and DOT maintenance checks.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle components such as brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Ensure accurate completion of work orders and assist with emergency services.
Qualifications
- 1-5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance experience or technical school education.
- Valid driver's license; willingness to obtain CDL while employed.
- Mechanic's tool set and participation in ASE certification program.
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical requirements.
