Expert Application Engineer (Quality)

Job Description

We are seeking an Expert Application Engineer (Quality) to join Discover Financial Services. As a key member of our agile delivery teams, you will play a crucial role in refining and testing requirements, as well as building automated regression test suites to ensure quality applications are delivered into production. This position involves driving strategic technology decisions, contributing to Discover's external image as a technology leader, and shaping learning paths for engineers.

Responsibilities

• Research new technology opportunities to enhance technical capabilities at Discover.
• Collaborate with experts outside Discover to drive strategic technology decisions.
• Contribute to Discover Technology's reputation as a desired workplace for learning best practices.
• Participate in internal and external communities as a thought leader.
• Bring back learning experiences to benefit Discover engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related areas.
• Internal applicants must have a technical proficiency rating of expert on the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Cloud Technologies, especially AWS.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining APIs, containerized applications/services, and IaaS.
• Passion for high-quality standards and test automation practices.
• Programming experience in Java and/or Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal abilities.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, organization, and time management.
• Knowledge and experience in Golang and full-stack web application development are advantageous.

Compensation: Salary range $125,500.00 to $211,500.00 with additional incentives possible based on various factors.
